Plenty of good tidings are in store for the Bachchans, or so it would appear, as whispers of an Aishwarya-Abhishek romance and marriage grow louder. While last year ended on a grim note, what with the Big B afflicted by diverticulitis, the new year has been rather positive so far. Maybe the frenetic visits to temples and shrines have appeased the gods. Big B seems to be on the road to recovery, and Ash and Abhishek Bachchan are an item!

It was at Abhishek’s birthday at his residence, Jalsa, where the two reportedly made their feelings rather obvious, lending credence to rumours that started during the shoot of Umrao Jaan. The immediate hysteria about the couple has been caused by Abhishek’s uncle Ajitabh Bachchan’s visit to Bangalore-based astrologer Chandrashekar Swami with the couple’s horoscopes. His verdict is said to be, ‘Sheeghrameva kalyanam praptirasthu (the sooner the better)’. However, we were unable to contact Ajitabh Bachchan for a confirmation.

The Bachchan brothers seem to be back together, too. Ajitabh admitted last year that strong differences had crept in between the brothers but was optimistic about a reconciliation. And it seems to have happened. That it was Ajitabh who went to Bangalore is significant. He was also found at Amitabh’s bedside during his recent illness.

Ajitabh’s youngest daughter Naina was reported to be seeing Sanjay, the eldest son of Gopichand Hinduja. They were seen together at the wedding of steel magnate Laxmi Mittal’s daughter. A possible engagement was rumoured. But mom Ramola, as reported in an English daily, had said, “It is for the children to decide about their future.” When we asked him if the news was true, Ajitabh did not deny or confirm it.
