It was around five in the morning when cops reportedly tracked down Javed through electronic surveillance.
Javed who was reportedly riding a mobike started firing at the police party which signalled him to stop.
With no alternative in hand cops returned the fire. Meanwhile Javed's mobike is reported to have slipped on the road while he was trying to escape. Seeing cops closing in towards him Javed took position and started firing at the police with his 9mm pistol while allowing his accomplice to escape under the cover of darkness.
When shots being fired by the criminal stopped the cops after a brief wait reached the place only to find him dead. The 9mm pistol was found near the dead criminal.
Wanted by the police since long Javed was being hounded by the cops as he never lost an opportunity to attack them. He had threatened lives of three cops with bombs and other weapons on different occasions. A few days ago he had hurled a bomb at a person in the same area.
Cops had made several attempts to nab him but each time Javed proved to be smarter than them. Then, they were a bit scared with this hard-core criminal who lost no time in attacking them.
He had earlier attacked constable Shiv Chand Yadav in Hatia with a crude bomb.
In another incident he had attacked constable Shiv Mohan Dube under Kydganj police station. Another constable battled with his life for long after Javed shot him with his pistol. Javed had also escaped from police custody in the year 1999.
In the year 2000 he had escaped from Jail. The same year he had murdered on Jagdish Nishad in Muthiganj.
He was also reportedly enjoying patronage of a mafia turned politician of the district. The politician's gang had also reportedly inducted Javed into his team as his sharp shooter. There were 20 criminal cases registered against him at various police stations in the city.
This was the seventh encounter during the past six months in which the SOG gunned down an outlaw, said CO Rajeshwar Singh who has supervised six encounters under the guidance of SP City RPS Yadav, SSP Vijay Singh Meena and his predecessor.
