"There was a rare political consensus in the state legislature, resulting in unanimous approval of the bill banning dance bars last year", NCP state unit spokesperson Ratnakar Mahajan told reporters at Vidhan Bhawan.

BJP group leader in Assembly Gopinath Munde blamed Deputy Chief Minister RR Patil for the reversal suffered by the state government by the HC order.

"Patil should have examined all legal issues involved before announcing the ban," Munde said.
