HEARING A public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition, the Allahabad High Court has directed the Principal Secretary of the Nagar Vikas to appear in person on May 22 and submit government stand/policy or the action taken, if any, to check the use of polythene, carbide, copper, sulphate, poisonous chemicals, deadly colour material in edibles/vegetables. Passing this directive, a division bench comprising Justice AK Yog and Justice Prakash of the Allahabad High Court, also directed that constructions over public ponds and tanks must be stopped forthwith.

Passing this directive, a division bench comprising Justice AK Yog and Justice Prakash of the Allahabad High Court, also directed that constructions over public ponds and tanks must be stopped forthwith. The court directed the Allahabad Development Authority and Nagar Nigam to restore the ponds and tanks as report submitted by Up Nagar Ayukt, Allahabad.
The court directed that this matter should be placed before the district magistrate, Allahabad for requisite action in the light of the decision of the Supreme Court in the case of Hinch Lal Tiwari Vs Kamla Devi.
The court passed this order on a PIL filed by a social worker Anand Mohan.
Directive to ADA
THE ALLAHABAD High Court has directed Allahabad Development Authority and defence department to place all record/details relating to Nehru Park, Allahabad and justification for not maintaining it.
During the course of hearing, the ADA informed the court that there is ‘Title’ dispute between ADA and defence department regarding Nehru Park.
A division bench comprising Justice AK Yog and Justice Prakash Krishna directed Additional Solicitor General of India to communicate this order to the defence authorities and appear along with affidavit and place on record their stand and explain why aforesaid park is neglected and not open to public even though it was used as ‘public park’ for about a decade, particularly, according to ADA, it had spent a few crores of rupees in developing this park, which was inaugurated by a late Prime Minister. The Court directed that proper response come before this court on May 22, 2006, the next date fixed.
The court passed this order on a PIL filed by Anand Mohan.
Court order to PWD THE High Court has directed the Public Works Department and the State highway authorities to submit a plan for a subway from on the National Highway, from one side to another, opposite the High Court Bar Association block.
The Court directed them to submit a report on May 22 when the case will come up for hearing. Besides, the Court took a serious view of the fact that despite the HC order, the posters and hand bills were still affixed on the walls of the Circuit House, NCZCC and public sign boards.
A Division Bench comprising Justice AK Yog and Justice Prakash Krishna directed to them take punitive action against erring persons and submit a report on May 22.
Curzon Bridge EFFORTS ARE being made to open the Curzon Bridge on the Ganga to the public by May 31, 2006.
This was stated by superintending engineer, PWD, Allahabad in an affidavit filed before the Allahabad High Court during the course of hearing on a PIL filed by Anand Mohan.
On this, the Division Bench, comprising Justice AK Yog and Justice Prakash Krishna, made it clear that the PWD would be solely responsible for the execution of the work. Before the bridge is opened to the public, lighting arrangements on the road and other sides should be properly built so that the bridge is safe for public use.
The court also directed that the PWD shall also obtain in writing ‘no objection’ from the Railways.
