On Friday, chief secretary Navin Chandra Bajpai and principal secretary, Nagar Vikas, UP, were present in the court.
Nagar Vikas secretary AK Verma filed an affidavit and presented the election notification, issued by the government, pertaining to local bodies election before the court.
In compliance of High Court’s order, the election notification was presented in the court but five nagar panchayats were not included in the notification. These five nagar panchayats are nagar palika railway settlement, Mughal Sarai, nagar panchayat Renukoot in Sonebhadra district, nagar panchayat Subera in Barabanki, nagar panchayat Dasra in Ghaziabad and nagar palika parishad Bangarmau in Mau district.
Justice DP Singh expressed dissatisfaction over the non- inclusion of these five nagar panchayats.
The court said the State government had not complied with the earlier order, passed by a division bench of this court dated December 22, 2005 in letter and spirit. The court had directed that the election of local bodies in the State would be held within six months, but it was not done by the government.
However, Advocate-General, SMA Kazmi assured the court to comply with the directive in true spirit of the order. Kazmi said that he would file an affidavit in the court by September 25, in the court.
