Heinous act
The terrorist attack on Samjhauta Express reveals the obnoxious mindset of the perpetrators. Sympathisers of the jehadi groups in Pakistan should know that terror sees no religion or region.
The terrorist attack on the innocent passengers of Samjhauta Express reveals the obnoxious mindset of the perpetrators of this heinous act. Sympathisers of the jehadi groups in Pakistan should understand that terrorism does not recognise any religion or region. This attack, on the eve of the Pakistan Foreign Minister’s visit to India for talks, signals that they want no peace between the two countries. Both the nations should frustrate these designs. Our hearts go out for the bereaved families and we pray for their souls.

The recurrence of these terrible incidents proves that security measures in public transport are not up to the mark. Every time there’s a bomb blast, the entire security apparatus jumps into all kinds of action, but within a few weeks, it’s back to square one. It seems citizens are mere statistics and the government has forgotten to put a price on their lives.

Writing on the wall
If the UP government is managing to remain in power despite its poor record of governance and the crime situation in the state, it is because many parties, including the Congress, once supported it to pursue their selfish political motives. Now in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling disqualifying 13 MLAs, the UPA government is thinking of invoking Article 356 to impose President’s rule in UP.
But because of the attitude of the CPI(M) and the DMK, who support the UPA, the Congress is in difficulty to impose President’s rule.

Price of populism
The reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel will neither control nor curtail inflation. The recent tax reform has increased the cost of medicines instead of reducing them. Besides, cost of all essential items goes on increasing each day. It has become the habit of all traders not to reduce the price once it is increased. The government policies should be people-oriented and never vote-bank motivated.
