Impotent men could soon have a more permanent answer to their problems thanks to a new injection that, unlike Viagra, lasts up to six months. However, there does happen to be a downside.

The new drug, which was developed at New York’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine, is different from current impotency medication like Viagra which have to be taken before a stint in the bedroom.

The catch, however, is that the treatment might be a bit painful given that it has to be injected at the base of the penis.

With initial research proving that the new impotency superdrug is safe and effective, the shot could be available in the next five years.

“Initial research proves it is safe and very effective,” The Sun quoted Professor Arnold Melman, as saying.

The injection works by relaxing muscles to allow blood to flow more freely.

And though the process might make you squirm a bit, Dr Richard Petty of London’s WellMan Clinic insists that it was still “fantastic” new for men.

“This is fantastic news for men,” he said.
