Besides, the activists handed over a memorandum to circle officer, Handia, in this regard. The memorandum was addressed to the district magistrate. The agitators who blocked the road near the police station held a meeting. The meeting was presided over by patron of Hindu Jagran Manch-Prayag Mahanagar Mahant Swami Ramdas Ji Maharaj.
Concern over ban on puja in parks
AT A meeting of the executive committee of the Bengali Social and Cultural Association (BSCA) held on Monday where the members expressed concern over the difficulty being faced by Durga Puja Barwari Committees this year due to a ban imposed by the administration for organising Durga Puja in public parks.
The Bengali Social and Cultural Association appealed to the district administration to reconsider its decision of ban on puja and allow the Barwari to perform the function this year as is customary here.
It was also decided to approach the administration for making necessary arrangements for the immersion of Durga idols on October 2.
