Hostel inmates clash, handed over to police

The incident took place at around 1 pm when a BA-III student of Allahabad University (AU) Ravi Yadav entered into an altercation with another inmate of the Tarachand Hostel Vinay Chaudhary who is an MA (previous) student of the Ancient History department over some issue. Within no time, the duo indulged in a tussle that also led to some other students joining the fight from both the sides.
Later, AU Proctor Prof HN Mishra caught both the students and handed them over to the cops. Prof Mishra confirmed the incident but denied involvement of any other student in the fight other than the two.
Eve teasing: An incident of eve-teasing reportedly took place near the Allahabad University’s Economics department on Friday morning. Students informed that the girl who was being harassed by a boy pushed him and left the scene after her classmates came to her help.
AU proctor, on being contacted, however, denied the incident. “No such incident has been reported to the proctor’s office. We will take appropriate action once it is brought to our notice,” he said.
AU lawn tennis team wins laurels: The AU Lawn Tennis team which participated in the North East Zone Inter University Championship held at Chandigarh from January 21-26 defeated teams from NIT Kurukshetra University, Punjabi University, Patiala, BHU, Varanasi and Kurukshetra University and qualified for the All-India Inter University Men’s Tennis tournaments to be held at Sri Venketeswara University, Tirupati, from February 11, 2006.
The AU team consisting of Manish Gupta, Parikshit Pande, Rohit Saxena and Saif Iqbal and coached by Brijesh Soni has achieved the success after a gap of several years.
