1 Plan it right:

Make sure your trip is planned well in advance. Check on the general road conditions and before travelling, confirm whether the high mountain passes are open.

2 Woolly alert:

Carry heavy woollens to beat the chill in the high mountain areas. Don’t forget your snow boots and gloves to escape snowbites.

3 Medicine kit:

High attitudes might make you dizzy and breathless. So take a medicine kit along, with bandage, allergy tablets, cough syrup and anti-nausea pills to counter uneasiness.

4 Safe road drive:

If you are travelling in a four-wheeler, make sure there are two drivers. Carrying extra fuel is a must, as you never know where you could get stranded.

5 Trek in small groups:

High mountains, though beautiful, are rugged, cold and inhospitable and no place for an inexperienced or ill-equipped trekker. In most of the cases, trekkers die from high-altitude sickness or by slipping off icy tracks. So stick to trekking in small groups, with the aide of local guides. Nobody knows the area better than them.
