The authority floated tenders for the project to widen the Sohna road on Wednesday.

The stretch is expected to be developed into a commercial and residential hub on the lines of the Mall Mile between IFFCO chowk and Sikanderpur Chowk on the Mehraulli-Gurgaon road.

The cost of the project, which is expected to be completed in a year, has been estimated at R44.49 crore. Only A-grade contractors empanelled with the authority are eligible to file bids. The bids for the project will close on May 24.

Apart from the carriageways, the project has provisions for service roads, footpaths, green belt, a three-metre-wide central verge and also a one-metre drainage channel.

The Sohna road, constructed in 2008, had begun crumbling a year later.
