Gandhi, the star campaigner of Congress, told a press conference in Kolkata "my sense is that she is the lady of the people and likes to keep contact with the people."
"I admire her simplicity and she is a genuine grassroots politician," Gandhi replied when asked to describe the Trinamool leader. "I will like to meet her," he said.
"I have fond memories of Mamataji when she used to come and meet my father (Rajiv Gandhi)." Asked to comment on the Left's accusation that the Trinamool Congress chief was anti-development, Gandhi said "development is about balance."
