An IED blast killed a junior engineer and injured two other civilians in Srinagar on Friday.

Police said that the deadly explosive was planted in a wall of a local graveyard at Mirza Kamil Sahab at Hawal quarter of the interior city, which went off at 10.15 am. "A motorcyclist, who happened to pass by the site when the explosion was triggered, was hit. He died on spot," said a police spokesperson. He said that two other civilians also suffered minor injuries in the blast.

The slain motorcyclist was identified as Shabir Hussain Khan of Boni Bagh, Lal Bazar. He was a junior engineer.

In a separate incident, a CRPF constable Parmeshwar Choudhary of 122 battalion of the CRPF committed suicide at Humhama in central district Budgam. A CFP spokesperson said that the jawan shot himself dead by his service rifle at 9.40 am.

This is the second incident in the past three days of suicide by a CRPF jawan. Earlier a CRPF jawan committed suicide in Anantnag on Tuesday.
