An IED was defused and two suspected civilians arrested in Gool area of Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, defence sources said on Thursday.
Based on specific information, a column of security forces launched a search operation at Harah area, three-km north of Gool, last evening, they said.
A white-coloured can with wires hanging out was recovered from under a boulder on the road side by the force.
The can was identified as remote-controlled IED which was later destroyed on the spot, they said.
The security forces also apprehended two civilians in this connection identified as 30-year-old Jamal-ud-Din and 16-year-boy Ashraf, both belonging to Harah village.
Both the suspected persons, believed to have helped the ultras in planting the IED, have been handed over to police for further investigation, the sources said.
