To ease the flow of traffic, the Gurgaon traffic police reduced the size of yet another roundabout near Huda City metro station on Wednesday.
The reason behind the move was that the roundabout occupied a large area, leaving little room for vehicular movement. The roundabout has now been reduced in size to ensure that vehicular movement is smooth. Also, with adequate space, cars will find it easy to ply on roads.
The NGO, Uthaan, which had planted samplings to beautify the place, rushed to the spot and transplanted the same at another location.
Bharti Arora, DCP (traffic), said, “The Huda City metro station witnessed traffic chaos as autos would halt to drop passengers. This caused major jams. As such, we decided to reduce the roundabout in size and introduce slip roads. The approval for the same was taken by the Huda administrator. Engineers are planning this project and it has been designed in a way to regulate movement of vehicles and reduce traffic congestion.”
Earlier, the roundabout of Sushant Lok, near Park Plaza, was demolished. This is the second such drive in the area and now, traffic outside the metro station will be easily monitored.
Meanwhile, a majority of auto drivers are happy as they would now have ample space to park their autos and wait for passengers. This will also benefit commuters, who can easily make their way into the Huda metro station.
Earlier, it usually took 20-25 minutes to pass through the roundabout due to traffic chaos. Residents had stated that they used to find it difficult to reach the station during the peak hours, while some reached late at work. But now after the installation of red lights, the same will be reduced to a few minutes. Commuters have also expressed happiness over the move.
