IMA to launch training programme on AIDS

National President- Elect of the Indian Medical Association, Dr. Ajay Kumar said here on Sunday that an unprecedented increase in India’s population was the root-cause of all problems.

Talking to mediapersons at the local chapter of the IMA in Lahurabeer area, Dr. Ajay Kumar said that lack of education was the main reason behind population explosion in the country and the government should initiate stern action to control population.Dr. Ajay, who is also the Chairman of Association of Promotion of Creative Learning, held politicians responsible for population explosion in the country and alleged that the politicians hesitated in controlling population for their vested interest regarding their vote bank.He said that as part of their effort to control population, the IMA had been working on ‘Aao Gaon Chale’ programme to spread awareness among the people about the advantages of a small family. The IMA would continue its campaign against quacks and leave no stone unturned in this regard, he added.

He said that the IMA was going to launch a programme to extend specific training to doctors on AIDS . He also raised questions over the qualification of yoga instructor, Baba Ramdev as an Ayurvedic practitioner.

Later, delivering a lecture on continuous medical education (CME) programme, Dr. Ajay said that big corporate hospitals had tarnished the reputation of the medical system of the country.

Dr. Ajay said that these corporate hospital saw patients as mere customers. Corporate hospitals wanted to realise their huge investment from the patients and so the conventional relation between doctors and patients had lost its relevance.

He called upon the medical professionals to maintain the dignity of their profession and not to crave for money alone. Dr. Aneesh Srivastava, Dr. B Singh, Dr. SK Kathuriya, Dr. Vibha Mishra, Dr. BB Agrawal, Dr. OP Tiwari, Dr. PS Pandey, Dr. Sanjay Rai, Dr. Ashok Rai and Dr. PK Tiwari also addressed the CME.
