Sir Alan Steer said the way that rappers refer to women as whores and bitches was " incredibly anti-women and dire ".

He said: “There is a violent aspect to youth culture — you look at rap music, for example.”

Rappers often sing about guns and violence.

Sir Alan urged parents to look for signs their children were falling into the rap lifestyle.

“If you don’t stand up for your morality when bringing up your children, it’s damn sure they will pick up somebody else’s. We’ve got to make it plain to parents, teachers and society that these are abominations,” The Sun quoted him as saying.

His comments follow the murder of Kiyan Prince, 16, outside school gates in North London.
