The Chancellor has written to vice-chancellors directing them to put forth proposals for inclusion of such subjects in the syllabi.

In the letter, the Governor urged vice chancellors to frame courses in such a manner that subjects and issues related to social responsibilities and concerns were incorporated in them.

This, he said, would widen the horizon of students and enable them to appreciate issues in proper perspective. He suggested subjects like population stabilisation, rural development and employment, conservation, environmental
improvement, social harmony etc, be given emphasis.

Jakhar is keen on academic and administrative restructuring in universities and has been publicly exhorting vice chancellors as well as in individual discussions to provide an ideological base to the restructuring process. The Governor appreciated the initiative taken by the Vikram University, Ujjain, in this direction.
