India retained their place in Asia-Oceania Zone Group I after beating Pakistan 3-2 in the Davis Cup play-off tie on Sunday.
Leander Paes sealed the victory beating Aqeel Khan 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 3-6 0-6 6-1 in the fifth and deciding rubber at the Cricket Club of India.
Earlier, Aisam ul-Haq Qureshi had defeated Prakash Amritraj 6-2 6-4 3-6 6-3 in the first reverse singles.
