India deserving winners against Germany

I hope this win against Germany will be a turnaround of sorts for the team in this tournament, writes Pargat Singh.

A win finally after two matches does give a good feeling for all of us who follow Indian hockey so keenly. And I am sure it must be the same with the players, who did well to register a win against Germany by 3-1 in their third match of the Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Lahore. There must be both a sense of relief and positive vibes.

A win always changes the mindset of a team, which is going through a trying period. I hope this win will be a turnaround of sorts for the team in this tournament.

India also showed some resurgence in that their play in the latter stages of the match was much stronger than before. India scored twice in the last quarter and also showed greater purpose in attacks. It also meant that the forwards are no longer goal-shy.

Sandeep Michael, Arjun Halappa and Vivek Gupta scored in the second half as India were deserving winners.
