"The exact timing depends on circumstances," National Security Adviser MK Narayanan told reporters accompanying the Prime Minister on his three-day visit to the Philippines.

He was asked whether Singh would visit Islamabad before the SAARC Summit in April.

On the Siachen issue, he said India has asked for authentication of positions. "That is the realistic and rational way of going about resolving it", he said.

On Musharraf's recent proposals, Narayanan said that many proposals have been put forward from that side.
