A Coast Guard spokesperson said the rescue was conducted after Indonesia-bound ship MV Pearl Arrow sent a message that its ship master Shakeel Ahmed Jaitapkar, a Pakistan national, was suffering from heavy bleeding and needed urgent medical assistance.
"The vessel was about 65 to 70 nautical miles from Mormugao (port in Goa) on passage from Sohar-Oman to Indonesia via Karachi and Columbo," the spokesperson said.
Jaitapkar has been hospitalized in a facility in Goa and will be discharged after treatment.
