THE IMPRESSIVE performance today by Yashpal Singh of Indian Navy saw the team in the semifinal of the All India Mayank Chaturvedi Memorial Cricket Tournament being organised at Old Campion Ground. Indian Navy defeated Dena Bank Delhi by 104 runs. Yashpal Singh was declared ‘HT Man of the Match’.

Yashpal was outstanding in every department of the game. After scoring half century, he scalped three wickets of Delhi team. Earlier, Navy skipper Jasbir Singh won the toss and opted to bat first.

After losing two wickets for just 31 runs, Tahir Khan and Yashpal batted sensibly. Stitching a partnership of 71 runs, both players managed to bring back the team in the match. Tahir and Yashpal scored 60 runs respectively.

But the loss of both wickets before reaching 150 runs, once again posed problems for the team. This time Krishna and Jasvir Singh took the responsibility of backing the team. Their 51 and 60 runs score respectively helped the team in setting 260 runs target.

In reply, Delhi team stumbled against the impressive bowling by Yashpal Singh. His three wickets haul restricted Delhi for just 156. Sahil Chaudhary was the only batsman who responded well. However, he fell short of scoring his first century in the tournament by just one run.
