Though senior party leaders, candidates and their supporters are trying their level best in applying a balm on disgruntled persons, the efforts were inadequate.

This was visible during a public contact programme of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) mayoral candidate Ravindra Patni in Govind Nagar assembly area, on Sunday. Here, local leaders prevented the public from attending the programme. Therefore, Patni has to return, said BJP sources.

Similarly, in the Congress party, many prominent leaders are not happy with the candidature of the mayoral candidate Badri Narain Tiwari.

The list of dissatisfied include many senior leaders from the camp of Union State Minister for Home Affairs Sriprakash Jaiswal. No wonder, most of them have preferred to sit idle in their homes.

The party made efforts to cement the wedge by making one of the MLAs the election convenor for the mayoral candidate. Incidentally, this person is known for his opposition to the Jaiswal camp. But his absence during the inauguration of the central office has not only raised many questions but also hinted that everything was not well within the Congress.

In the same way, Samajwadi Party was drawing flak from many senior leaders of the party. The dissatisfied group was chalking ways to ensure defeat of the party candidate Neeraj Chaturvedi.

Though State Cabinet minister Surendra Mohan Agrawal and his followers are not leaving any stone unturned to ensure the victory of the SP candidate, other section of the party was adopting a wait and watch policy.
