'Infosys, only global IT provider'

A research firm has named Infosys as the only IT service provider to the retail industry, capable of competing with both global and offshore service providers.

Infosys Technologies said on Tuesday that a research firm had named it as the only IT service provider to the retail industry, which was capable of competing with both global and offshore service providers.

Infosys' ranking can be attributed to a strong suite of retail offerings as well as the company's thorough domain expertise and ability to tailor solutions to address customer's unique business requirements, a company statement said.

Having continually evolved its retail industry IT service practice, Infosys has significantly increased the amount of business consulting it does for retail organisations.In doing so, it has made a successful transition to a provider of end-to-end services helping retail companies implement solutions that deliver both immediate and long term business value, it said.

AMC's recent report, UB Pravin Rao, senior Vice-President for Infosys' retail business unit, said "is indicative that a growing number of retail companies are looking at Infosys to provide end-to-end solutions to help manage costs and complexity while simultaneously gaining competitive advantage."
