The Glamorgan player would now fly back home to consult a specialist and his participation in the remainder of the three-Test series would be reassessed after the review.

Earlier in the day, skipper Michael Vaughan was ruled out of the match after he failed to recover from a sore knee.

Vaughan would also return home and his availability for the rest of the tour was in doubt.

Andrew Flintoff was set to lead the team as vice-captain Marcus Trescothick had pulled out of the tour for personal reasons on Saturday.
