IT MAJORS may log on to Madhya Pradesh soon. Information technology bellwethers are planning to chip in Rs 2000 crore investment in the State, particularly Bhopal and Indore. The new IT policy of the State Government seems to have blipped on the laptop screens of tech czars.
IT majors like Tata Consultancy Service (TCS), Wipro, US-based First American Corporation, Unitec, Raheja’s, Parasnath Developers and Zoom Developers are already through with preliminary rounds of discussions with officials concerned, sources said.
While Wipro and First American Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, are interested in investing in Bhopal, TCS in Indore. Unitec, Raheja’s and Parasnath Developers are keen on both both the cities.
A senior officer of the IT Department told the Hindustan Times that Unitec and Raheja’s representatives have held meetings with Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahani and IT Principal Secretary Padamvir Singh. A Zoom Developers’ team has met IT Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and the Principal Secretary.
The State is ready to offer land to these companies, the officer said, adding all companies barring TCS approached the government after the IT policy was released a couple of month back.
Asked about the seriousness of the companies, he said discussions with Unitec and Raheja’s were in an advanced stage. Both the groups are likely to invest Rs 500 crore each for setting up their proposed facilities.
TCS is serious about establishing a software export unit at Indore which will recruit about 1500 youths.
