It?s bargain time for Rajaram Pal

THE SUPREME Court order for not holding the elections till July 31 has given a relief to the caught-on-camera MPs.

Thus, in the aftermath of the SC order, it’s time for the suspended BSP MP, Rajaram Pal, to demand his return to the fold of his parent party.
Pal, one of the caught-on-camera MPs, who was suspended from the party, was fighting for his political survival, before the Supreme Court stayed any elections till July 31.
His supporters say Pal is excited by the success he pulled off in political field and in the courtroom. So he wants to make some bargains with the BSP. If given another chance by the leadership, Pal is asking for a dignified return.
If not, Pal has much bigger plans up his sleeves to execute and turn the tables on his adversaries who were trying to deprive him of his seat in a recognised BSP bastion. One move Pal and company contemplates: to convert the Samvidhan Bachao Sangharsh Morcha into political outfit.
At present, the sources say, the Pal and his team are working hard to put up another show of strength by organizing a rally in New Delhi in three weeks time.
The idea behind the proposed rally is to build pressure on the BSP leadership that had made up its mind to reward Anil Shukla Warsi, who had switched loyalties from the Samajwadi Party to the BSP.
Earlier, Warsi was tipped to contest from Chaubeypur assembly seat but when Pal and nine others were caught on camera, the party projected him the next candidate to cash in on the Dalit-Muslim-Brahmin equation. But all the euphoria Warsi created died down almost instantly when the court ruling came in.
Even the BSP city office wore a deserted look with the leaders preferring to remain non-commital. The same is story with some SP leaders who were staking claim on the seat. One of the SP leaders, said to be a front runner, reacted to the situation in this fashion: “Bhaiji sab garbar ho gaya... Saari mehnat bekar chali gayi hain.”
On the other hand, Pal supporters took to streets to distribute sweets describing the court decision landmark.
Spokesman for Morcha, which Pal formed after his expulsion from the house with other MPs, Ramesh Nath Pandey told HT over phone certainly the order has poured cold waters on those trying to contest the seat. Indeed it has given Pal a fresh lease of life.
