Blame it on the location of the restaurant, or on its original positioning as the city's only restaurant serving American-style Italian food (generous portions, swimming in cheese), or on the management's preoccupation with refurbishing the hotel, but the restaurant, despite the makeover its menu has received in the past one year (in dire need of a new look), hasn't got its due. It has a please-all menu with a jolly good selection of appetisers (the Cucumber & Bocconcini Salad is a nice twist to the traditional Insalata Caprese), followed by time-tested as well as innovative pastas, pizzas and risottos (if you're tired of the same boring things, order the Seafood & Green Onion Risotto or the Lemon Pepper Chicken Pizza, or cannelloni stuffed with roasted zucchini and ricotta cheese with gorgonzola sauce), and rounded off with well-made main courses (our favourite is the Rosemary Crumbled Rack of Lamb). The dessert menu is limited, but the star, undoubtedly, is the Amaretto Chocolate Mousse.
Wine List: The restaurant has a decent list, low on snobbery, high on value for money, though the absence of Bordeaux First Growths and other grand crus is inexcusable. We recommend, among the whites, the Torres Vina Sol (Spain), Frecobaldi Pomino Bianco and Danzante Pinot Grigio (Italy) and Kendall Jackson Vintner's Reserve Sauvignon Blanc (California); among reds, Torres Sangre de Toro (Spain), Lucente and Remole from Frescobaldi (Italy), Penfolds Koonunga Hill Cabernet Shiraz and Mount Pleasant Philip Shiraz (Australia).
