The highway was closed for traffic on January 6 due to incessant snowfall at Jawahar tunnel which rendered the highway slippery and unmotorable, they said.
The traffic from Jammu to Srinagar and some stranded vehicles were allowed to move towards their respective destinations in Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir valley, they said.
The downward traffic from Srinagar to Jammu would be allowed from Friday, they added.
