J&k police arrested 4 SOG's in connection with carpenter murder case

Police took four more personnel of special operation group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police into custody in connection with the killing of carpenter Abdul Rahman Paddar of Kokernag in Ganderbal. An assistant sub-inspector Farooq Ahmad Guddo and constable Farooq Ahmad have already been arrested in connection with the case.
Sources said that the policemen were arrested as a part of the investigations into the case. Deputy Inspector General of Police Farooq Ahmad is heading the investigation team.
Those arrested include head constable Mohammad Ashraf (120/IRP), head constable Krishen Chand (602-JK Armed Police), constable Shameem Ahmad (104--security wing of police) and head constable Surrender Singh (541-security wing).
Sources said that the policemen were arrested in raids by a special team of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
They said that all the four personnel were part of the SOG team, who gunned down Paddar allegedly faking him as a Pakistani commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba in the intervening night of December 8 and 9.
Two civilian informers working with the SOG, Shabir Ahmad Bhat and Abdul Rasheed Wagay have also been arrested, sources said.
Police sources said that the special team raided the house of ASI Farooq Ahmad Guddo and recovered one INDICA car and three bank pass books.
The security has been tightened around the grave of Paddar at Sumbal to frustrate any attempt to tampering the evidence. Around a dozen policemen have been deployed on the graveyard for round the clock vigil till the body is exhumed for DNA test. "A team of experts of National Forensic Laboratory of Chandigarh is expected.
We are waiting for the team. The body would be exhumed in their presence", said a senior source adding "they are likely to reach here on Wednesday".
Meanwhile Abdul Razaq Khan has been appointed as new SP for Ganderbal in replacing Hansraj Parehar, who along with Deputy SP Bahadur Ram, has been attached.
