A disgraced Indian doctor jailed in Belfast for possessing hundreds of sick images of child rape will be taken off the medical register after a hearing this week.

Former Royal Victoria Hospital doctor Biju Mohan walked free from jail just two days before Christmas, after serving time for possessing gruesome images of child rape.

But now he is due before the General Medical Council's 'fitness to practice panel' in London later this week, where he will be formally banned from working as a doctor in the UK.

It is believed that the doctor will be deported to India. His wife and two children have already been deported.

Mohan (39), a former specialist registrar at the RVH, quit his job after cops raided his home last year as part of a UK-wide crackdown on child pornography.

They discovered almost 1,500 photos, more than 300 movies and 1,300 zip files containing multiple images on Mohan's computer hard drive and disks, containing images of child rape, as well as footage of sadism and bestiality.

Mohan admitted to 32 sample charges of possessing child pornography. He was also convicted of one count of distributing child porn after admitting sending out hundreds of vile images of child abuse.

He was sentenced in June to 12 months on each of the 33 charges and was released from prison just before Christmas.
