According to Maulana Jarjees of the madrasa at Idgah, about 50 persons surrounded it suddenly and took the quazi into custody from his house there. They also conducted a search at the quazi’s residence and the madrasa and seized a computer, some of the quazi’s diaries and mobile phones belonging to him and wife.

According to Maulana Abdus Sattar, Iliyas, 38, has been discharging duties as the quazi for the past 15 years. He has six children — three sons and three daughters. The quazi’s wife refused to comment.

When asked about the incident, CO city Ratan Lal Bhargava said that the SOG officials in Jaipur would be able to provide answers.

The serial blasts on May 13 claimed over 60 lives and left many more wounded.
