Yash Pal Malik, president of the samiti, said: "It should be a time-bound decision and there is no need to do any survey at this stage. We request you to recommend to the Backward Commission to include Jats in the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category for government jobs in the states and at the Centre."

Selja said: "We are seized of the situation but cannot make any comment due to the elections going on in five states of the country. Group of ministers are yet to take any decision."
