Jaunpur SP assures High Court of arrest of eight errant cops
SUPERINTENDENT OF police, Jaunpur, on Monday assured the Allahabad High Court that he would get eight accused policemen arrested within ten days in connection with their non-appearance in court at Jaunpur. These policemen had failed to appear in court in spite of issuance of non-bailable warrants against them.

In view of the assurance, Justice Vinod Prasad on Monday fixed June 19 for the next hearing of the case.
This order was passed by the court on an application filed by Onkar Nath of Jaunpur district, under section 482 (inherent powers of the court) of the criminal procedure code.
In the application, a request was made for a direction to the State Government to ensure the presence of these police personnel in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jaunpur, where a criminal case was pending against them.
Appearing on behalf of the applicant, his counsel Dinesh Rai submitted before the court that in spite of non-bailable warrants issued against them and repeated letters sent to the higher authorities, including the principal secretary (Home), as well as the DIG and the SP, Police Headquarters, Allahabad, to ensure the appearance of the accused policemen, they did not appear in court.
