Naik Mahinder Singh of 8 Dogra regiment shot himself in his stomach while he was on sentry duty in Birpur area on Thursday.

The injured jawan was rushed to military hospital for treatment. He was operated upon by doctors but his condition deteriorated and he succumbed to injuries last night, the spokesman said.

Army has ordered a court of inquiry into the incident.
