Join the mainstream
Manoj Joshi rightly says that mosques and madrasas are where radical Islamic movements originate (Challenge and response, May 3).
Manoj Joshi rightly says that mosques and madrasas are where radical Islamic movements originate (Challenge and response, May 3). Despite the announcements by the central and UP governments in the past for educational reforms in madrasas to bring them in the mainstream, there is little action on the ground. More so, the threat of terrorism in India cannot be underestimated on the basis of facts and figures of past incidents alone.

I thank to Manoj Joshi for touching upon a basic issue of Muslims and their assimilation in India. But Joshi’s use of the word ‘bacteria’ for a particular community is objectionable. Due to some misguided persons, the whole community should not be blamed. Why don’t you mention Gujarat incidents. I hope the writer will highlight the truth so that the misguided youth can join the mainstream.

Enemy of humanity
The Indian Muslim Council, USA, condemns the massacre of 35 innocent Hindus in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. This act is barbaric. We stand in sympathy with the families and friends of those killed and request an immediate inquiry into the incidents. We demand the perpetrators be brought to justice and the victims’ families be compensated.

The terrorists have tried to send terror waves in the state. This heartless act has been condemned by all those who believe in humanity and democracy. The killing of Suryanarayana in Afghanistan is also a similar act. No religion allows its followers to indulge in mindless violence.
All the network used by terrorists should be destroyed and India should make its intelligence system more active.

Hats off to five-year-old Budhia Singh of Orissa for covering 65 km in seven hours. But Budhia is still too young and we are pushing him too much. Records can wait.
