The execution of Saddam Hussein was a right decision by the Iraqi government. Saddam was involved in the 1982 Dujail massacre and various other crimes. He got what he deserved. Saddam’s journey from humble beginnings to the top made him cruel and curt. This was the reason for his eventual downfall.

It is a matter of concern that Saddam Hussein was
executed on Eid. Showing the telecast of the hanging proves how little humanity is left in this world. It is a fact that the execution was conducted at the instance of George Bush. But this does not mean that Bush’s troubles are over. Saddam’s death will only bring more violence and destruction to Iraq.

Chilling apathy

The serial murders of children in a Noida village has sent a chill down people’s spine. Why did the police not wake up when so many children were reported missing? What is the point of boasting that we are the world’s largest democracy if hapless parents cannot even get an FIR registered about their missing children? The police must be held accountable for this lapse and the killers must be brought to justice.

The killings in Noida suggest that complaints about law and order in Uttar Pradesh were true. While scores of children were sexually abused and killed in cold blood, the police refused to take any steps to trace them. There may be a racket in human organs hidden in the gory tale.
The government should accept responsibility for the scale of the massacre and ensure that deterrent punishment is given to the accused. Financial compensation to the families of the victims is simply not enough.
