Justice Naidu to probe Kalinga Nagar firing case

Justice AS Naidu of Orissa High Court will inquire into the January 2 police firing at Kalinga Nagar in Jajpur district, official sources said on Tuesday.

Chief Justice of the High Court Sujit Burman Roy had informed the Government about its decision to entrust Justice Naidu with the responsibility.

Orissa government had decided to conduct a judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court judge into the incident in which 13 people, including 12 tribals, were killed.

After Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had requested the Chief Justice to spare a sitting judge for the inquiry, the former had expressed his inability to do the same.

Patnaik had requested the Chief Justice again to spare a judge to conduct the probe, the sources said.
