The singer who hails from Banaras Gharana managed to leave a lasting impact on the audience with his folk songs.

He started with bandish of rag Malhar. Dadra presented by Mishra was highly appreciated by the audience. The lyrics 'lagi katariya ki dhar sajani....' added to the essence of rustic charm of the folk music.

Kajari presented by Mishra was another attraction of the event.

The jhula song 'Jhula dheere se jhulao banwari...' reminded of the playful attitude of Krishna and it best suited for the occasion of Janmashthami festival.

Mishra was accompanied by Anil Kumar on tabla, and Shamshad Ahmed on harmonium. Earlier, Bhagwan Shanker, director of NCZCC and famous musician Pt Ramshray Jha welcomed Mishra. Madhukank Mishra conducted the event.

According to programme officer Atul Dwivedi, such cultural events held regularly at the centre help in propagating the folk art to a considerable extent. He took it as a good sign for the audience turning up for such events.

Chhunnu Lal Mishra has visited the city earlier during Allahabad Haat.
