Police said the three were posted along with others at the Government Guest House, on September 23 where President APJ Abdul Kalam stayed that night.

A city-based doctor, Murugesan, working at a corporate hospital had met the President and displayed before him a shaving razor, claiming that it was unique, taking the security personnel by surprise.

Following this security lapse, the three were suspended by City Police Commissioner M Chidambarasamy.

Those suspended were Inspector Rajendran, Sub-Inspector Shanthi and Head Constable Daveed Raja.
