The traders handed over a memorandum addressed to the President of India to the city magistrate, urging him to allow traders to go on with their business after taxing them adequately, KUVM general secretary Mani Kant Jaid said.

"The Delhi Municipal Corporation had already allowed them to work and they were paying commercial rate of taxes for doing business in residential areas," Jaid said.

He said similar protests were held by traders in several other parts of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.
