Karnataka: 12 die in truck-taxi collision near Chitradurga
The truck was carrying at least 16 tonnes of steel rods which fell on the cab due to the impact of the collision. The accident took place near Chikkagodanahalli, which near Chitradurga, about 200 kms from Bengaluru.
At least 12 people, including a child, were killed on Friday when a speeding truck collided with a maxi cab on National Highway-13.
The truck was carrying at least 16 tonnes of steel rods which fell on the cab due to the impact of the collision. The accident took place near Chikkagodanahalli, which near Chitradurga, about 200 kms from Bengaluru.
“We have registered a case against the truck driver and owner, who both hail from Uttar Pradesh. The truck driver, who survived the mishap, was rushed to a district hospital here for treatment,” Chitradurga police superintendant MN Anucheth said.
The victims were returning to their village, after attending a late night event in Chikkagodanahalli.
