Narain Karthikeyan will get behind the wheel of HRT's new F112 as the team will finally give the new car its track debut following the launch of the car being delayed due to the car failing two of the 17 FIA crash tests that are mandatory for teams to pass before they can compete in the 2012 Formula One championship season.

The team ran last year's F111 with Spain's Pedro de la Rosa behind the wheel at Jerez in order to give the 40-year-old F1 returnee some much needed track time.

Karthikeyan did not drive at all at the Jerez test but had been scheduled to give the new car its track debut in the 21 to 24 February test at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona.

Those plans had to be cancelled as the F112 had to be redesigned in order to comply with the FIA safety tests, which it finally did last week.
