CRICKETING TODAY proved costly affair to the organising secretary of the Indo-Pak Veteran match IPS officer Dr Kashmir Singh. While India lost to Pakistan, Singh lost his battle to the State Government, which had not taken his cricketing and other sporting activities kindly.
Already dumped in an insignificant department of Civil Defence as IG for the last two years, Singh was on Friday pushed further eastward to highly Naxal-affected area of Mirzapur as IG Inter-State Border Force (ISBF).
The punishment did not stop here. This post was in Varanasi with Banshilal as IG. But, while posting Dr Singh as IG, IBSF the post was transferred to inaccessible Mirzapur. Singh was close to Mayawati and was appointed secretary to the chief minister during her last dispensation. But, he was soon shifted from the secretariat.
Singh, who is also secretary, UP Non-Olympic Association and holds several other posts in various sports organizations, had recently organised the second Deaf Cricket World Cup involving nine nations.
He had invited Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav but he did not turn up. But it is learnt that the organization did not invite the chief minister at today’s Indo-Pak match. Interestingly, sensing trouble Sports Minister RK Chaudhury also skipped the event. The deaf organization had assailed the event organizers of deaf world cup of alleged bungling in funds.
Banshilal has been posted as IG (rules and manuals) in Lucknow. The State Government also posted Ashok M Jain as PAC commandant 30th battalion Gonda where a row had erupted between the PAC and DGP’s wife Gita Singh over the commandant’s bungalow. Before leaving for the Kosovo assignment last year, Jain was posted at this post and had left household goods in the bungalow.
SSP, Allahabad SK Gupta, who was put on waiting list after students violence, was today posted as SP (Karmik) at the Police Headquarters Allahabad.
