A doctor from Kasturba Hospital is among the patients. Civic health authorities confirmed that the doctor, who had been screening people, tested positive for the viral infection two days back.

“After coming in contact with so many patients a doctor can get infected,” said civic executive health officer Dr Jairaj Thanekar.

Despite it being a public holiday, 2,831 people were screened till Friday evening.

In the afternoon, at Kasturba, barely 15 had queued up instead of the usual throng of masked faces. Of the two patients admitted to LH Hiranandani Hospital’s intensive care, the condition of one (a 49-year-old woman) improved while the other (28-year-old engineer) was critical, said Dr Sujit Chatterjee.
