Elected from the Kolar (Reserved) constituency, this 56-year-old from Karnataka has become a Member of the Lok Sabha for the fifth term.
Muniappa started his political career as vice-president of Taluk Development Board of Sidlaghatta during 1978-83 and was a practising advocate from 1986-91.
He is among the eight members from Karnataka who won despite the strong anti-Congress wave that swept the state this time.
