Ajay Kumar alias Islam and his associate Sheela were arrested on Thursday near Tis Hazari court in Delhi and the child, Kabeer, was rescued from their clutches, they said.

Police suspect that Ajay, who claimed to be a resident of Bihar's Motihari district, is a Bangladeshi migrant who had been staying in Gurgaon with forged documents.

A police official said that Ajay, whose real name is Islam, managed to get fake residential proof from Bihar.

"We have sent the details to Bihar Police to verify his identity. He was living in Gurgaon for years as Ajay while his real name is Islam," he said.

"This is an alarming situation that many Bangladeshis are getting ration cards, passports and other residential proofs made in the country with the help of fake documents. They commit crimes in one state and escape to another," the official added.
