THE RESIDENTS of Parmat area foiled the attempt of a rickshaw-puller when he was trying to kidnap a five-year-old student of a school. The local people on hearing the scream of the kid at Parmat nabbed the rickshaw-puller and handed him over to police on Thursday.
According to information, five-year-old student identified by the police as Vansh Gopal alias Reshu, son of Umesh Kumar Gupta, a resident of the Civil Lines, was taken to school by a rickshaw-puller Shyam, a resident of 12/484 Gwaltoli.
Police said Shyam instead taking Vansh Gopal to school was taking him to somewhere else. At Parmat, Vansh Gopal started screaming, as rickshaw was not heading towards his school.
After scream of Vansh Gopal, local residents enquired Shyam. He reportedly told people that he was taking him to a tantrik. Then people enquired from Vansh Gopal, and boy said he was going to school. People nabbed the rickshaw-puller and informed the Gwaltoli police.
Police took boy and rickshaw-puller to Gwaltoli police station. After interrogation, Shyam revealed that he was taking the boy to a tantrik but without the consent of his parents.
The parents were called at the police station and they too said that Vansh Gopal was going to his school at Civil Lines. However, according to police Umesh Kumar Gupta said that like every day the main rickshaw-puller couldn’t arrive therefore his father Ram Ratan had sent his son Syam with another rickshaw-pullar, to drop him to school.
However, kin of Shyam claimed that he was mentally disturbed and returned from Indore a few days back. According to Ram Ratan, Shyam was going to tantrik for himself not for the child.
Meanwhile, the police said that it would investigate the matter despite the fact that nobody had lodged any complaint.
