Kidnapped child rescued after five days

A two-year-old girl, kidnapped five days ago, was rescued and the toddler's maid servant and her husband were arrested for the crime, police said in Kanpur.

A two-year-old girl, kidnapped five days ago, was rescued on Friday and the toddler's maid servant and her husband were arrested for the crime, police said in Kanpur.

"We have rescued the child Shifa and arrested the maid and her husband who kidnapped her. We have handed over the child to the parents," Kanpur DIG Neera Rawat said.

According to police sources, a police team was sent to the maid's house in Gwalior.

In the meantime, her husband called Shifa's parents demanding ransom but his call was traced by the police and later both were arrested.

But the DIG did not verify whether the child was rescued from Gwalior.
